I keep forgetting about my deviant art account… I don’t use it much anymore, but I went back today, and found one of my favorite pictures in existence.  The Art of Killing a Spider by Jean Francois

Can you Digg it?

September 30, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’m comprising a list of helpful little tools that everyone seems to be using to promote themselves.  It’s a little on the scattered side, because I’m new to all of this, but hopefully I can get a good grip on my thoughts and make this worthwhile for you.

Read me first!!! Why No One Links to Your Best Posts (And What to do About it) By Brian Clark
http://www.copyblogger.com/no-links/ –>this inspired me to create this post.

http://twitter.com –>so far I love twitter, but if you don’t check it on a daily basis you can feel a bit overwhelmed and behind, especially if you’re following around professional bloggers like I am.  This is also a very powerful networking tool to help you create rapport with the right people.

http://digg.com –> this is better than a news station, it may be personal opinions, but it is more informative and entertaining to me than watching the news.  Plus, if you read Why No One Links to Your Best Posts, you know that Digg is a powerful way to network with other bloggers.

http://www.stumbleupon.com –> I like this even better than digg, I feel it is more user friendly.

Who is bailing out?

September 30, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Okay, so yesterday’s post is somewhat wrong.   The bail out plan did not get passed.  The vote fell short in the House of Representatives, 205-228.  I’m fairly relieved.  From the sounds of it, there is all kinds of finger pointing going on, and no one wanted to vote yes unless someone else was going to be accountable.

…But with the November election approaching, members of both parties were leery of giving the Bush administration sweeping new authority to save Wall Street firms. The fear of taking blame for an unsuccessful bail-out appeared to motivate many opponents.
George Bush was “very disappointed” by the House failure today, spokesman Tony Fratto told reporters. The president will be meeting with advisers later to devise another plan for the bail-out, he added.
“We’re all worried about losing our jobs,” Paul Ryan, a conservative congressman and early critic of the rescue proposal, told colleagues before the vote.
“Most of us say, ‘I want this thing to pass, but I want you to vote for it, not me’.” -

Whoever actually had the sense to say no, thank you.  I just hope we can find a plan to help the banks in the right way without hurting the average American.  Someone in that bank screwed up, and they need to be held accountable and be replaced with someone who can do the job correctly.

If you screwed up your job, do you think you’d be offered a good sum of money to go away?  I know I wouldn’t.

Almost Rant about the Bailout Plan

September 29, 2008 · 2 Comments

So yesterday the news spread that we’re going to bail out the banks.  *sigh*  I’m not going to complain too much, for lack of a better idea.  I only believe in uber complaining when you’ve got a better idea.  I just want to know, who the hell are we going to hold accountable for this?  The American people? The banks? The government itself?

I think the banks should take some blame, considering they were lending too much money to people who would not be able to pay it all back.

I think the American people should take some blame for borrowing more than we could pay back just because the bank would loan it to us.  And a little more blame for living above our income, no matter how little or how much that income is.  Plastic is not the answer.

I think the government should take a little blame for not doing something much much sooner.

I will shoulder some blame because I have some unpaid debt.  It’s under $10,000 (including my car loan)… but it is still debt that I have no idea how the hell I’m going to pay it back.  I was told I shouldn’t feel bad because I don’t owe hundreds of thousands of dollars, but my little brain can’t fathom hundreds of thousands of dollars, nor what one would spend it all on, so it does not make me feel better.  It haunts me on a daily basis, and I don’t answer the collection calls because I have no explanation what-so-ever for them, and they are going to try to bully me into paying them money that doesn’t exist

I’m thinking a lot of people are using a lot of money that doesn’t exist.  I can only truly speak for myself though.

The article I read was talking about dividing that 700 Billion of the bailout by the approximate number of Americans over 18, and you’d end up with around $3,100.  What would you do with that money

Most of it would go to my debt, but some would go into my gas tank.  You know, that greedy part of your car that you must fill probably between every week and every other week otherwise the car refuses to move from your parking spot?  (I try to fill it every other day because my gas gauge doesn’t work so I go by the miles I’ve driven since last fill up, that and the fact that I drive 92 miles every day)

I know my best friend would pay part of her college tuition and fix her truck.  (I know too many people that drive a gas guzzler and don’t need to, but she has horses, so her truck owning is relevant.)

My boyfriend would just stick it in his bank account, he doesn’t need it.

Most of my customers that I see on a daily basis would buy clothes for their kids, fix their hanging-on-by-a-thread vehicles, pay their electricity bill on time for once, maybe get their phone/cable turned back on.

If you’re interested, here is the link to the article I was reading that brought on this post.

Ranty rant rant

September 26, 2008 · Leave a Comment

So I am less than a whole week away from my due date, and I feel like hell warmed over, sprinkled with shit.  I am very very angry for quite a few different reasons, and it has nothing to do with hormones.  I’m sorry if I’m not posting anything productive, I just don’t effin feel like it.  Sorry.  I feel like nothing at this sad sorry little point in my life is productive.  Everything is counter-productive right now, including going to work.  I’m driving 45 minutes one way to work 4 or 5 hours and then turn around and drive home.  Not only should I probably not be in the car that long, I don’t think the company can even afford having me around right now.  Right after school started it got really slow.  Even regular pay days for the state and temp agencies suddenly dropped off to next to nothing.

One of my friends was going to have a candle show, like back in August, then she moved it to September, and then she suddenly decided I was in no shape to host a show, even though we’d seen each other once since July.  Just because I’m pregnant doesn’t mean I’m fucking handicapped.  I was kind of hoping she’d have the show so not only would I have some sales, I’d get some new contacts because my family doesn’t seem to support quality candles and spa products.  When I started this little “biz” I was supposed to announce a grand opening show and host it myself with the help of my leader.  That was a flop.  Then I tried to coerce/beg/bribe family members to have shows.  None of them would.  How do I know almost no one who burns candles?  Fortunately my shrink had a PL piece in her office, and I spotted it and we talked a bit about PL and she wanted some candles and knew a few people who wanted some too.  Mind you shrinks are a little busy to be hosting shows, so she agreed to collect a few orders and we’d call it a book show.  The company hates book shows, but if these people are too busy, then they are too busy.

**I’m calling it PL because I’m sure the company would be upset if I used their name in this post, especially because I’m ranting about my lack of sales.  I know many successful people at it, I’m just lost because I didn’t get the start I was supposed to.  And hey, I know it’s my fault.  I didn’t ask for help when I needed it.  That is one of those tragic flaws inadvertently pounded into my brain by a parent because they have the same problem and I am just too overwhelmed/lazy to fix it**

Totally got distracted for a while… I’m working in my “birth plan”  I’ll try to post something productive a little later today.

Pooper Scooper Please?

September 23, 2008 · 2 Comments

Warning, very angry rant.

I just heard funny man Dane Cook was evicted from his apartment, after losing a court case against his landlord.  Guess what the suit was about?  Friggin Dog Poop.  I’d let my chiuahua shit all over the place too.  I bet the landlord was a total asshole.  And then, I go looking around for an article on it, (which none of them were worthy enough for me to link to) and there are a bunch of angry comments from random people.  What the fuck, like you’ve never let your dog shit somewhere it shouldn’t and didn’t clean it up.  The apartment complex I lived in didn’t even allow dogs, and there was always shit in front of the building.  I didn’t have a dog, but if I did, I would have let it shit in the hallway in front of my noisy neighbors apartment.

Rant #1/2

September 18, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I am taking two online classes this semester.  They’re fairly easy, one being Intro to Computer Info Systems, and the other, a class I’ve taken once already, Intro to Networking.  We’re moving right along in both, but there is a problem:  Our quizzes and assignments aren’t necessarily posted when the class schedule says they’re going to be, so how can we make a deadline when the quiz isn’t ready to take?  I know our instructors are very busy people (hell, one of them is in Korea teaching at a community college there as well) but I think if we’re expected to finish these things on time then they need to be there for us to finish.  That was as nice as I can get on the subject.

Yeah, I know I’m just full of it today.

If you’re wondering how in the world I find all these things like Tim Brownson and http://ittybiz.com, I have spent the last whole month clicking on random links when I go to websites. (and in turn clicking on links at those sites too.)  I just find myself all kinds of little ditties everywhere, and I thought I’d share them.  You’ll thank me some day.

Fear and Loathing in Missi’s Vegas

September 18, 2008 · Leave a Comment

So I’m writing this under accountability because I want to hold myself accountable for this.  It could probably be filed under rant as well, considering I know what I’m thinking right now.  =)

As I’ve mentioned before, I wrote some fictional stories as a teenager.  I was fairly decent, albeit vulgar, but I think it’s time to prove to myself what I can really write.  (I also should to write some examples if I’m going to look for work)

I’m thinking two fictional stories, one book review (on top of Don’t Ask Stupid Questions? review), and one gadget/program review.  That should give me a little bit of variety, and show me whether I know what I’m talking about or not.  (which may or may not be under speculation.)

If you can think of anyone who would like a writer/proofreader/data entry monkey, let me know.  I will charge next to nothing because I am desperate and have little experience.  I know, I know, I shouldn’t charge next to nothing, but I would really like work.  I refrained from saying need, as much as the data entry monkey was making a racket over not using NEED.
